Chililabombwe Council switches, clear drainage

By JOHN SAKALA
Chililabombwe Municipal Council says it has switched its mind set and will now be using its own available human resource to attend to some urgent and critical jobs.

Chililabombwe Mayor Christabel Mulala said the main drainage at Kasumbalesa border was blocked due to high generation of garbage by marketeers.

Ms Mulala said the council instead of hiring a contractor to do the job, it spared today Friday August 16, 2019 to use all council employees to unblock the drainage and clean the border.

“At the moment our budget is tight and we were unable to hire someone to do a job for us. But we thought of using the officers starting from the Mayor and the Town Clerk plus all Directors to clean and unblock the drainage. The good news is that all marketeers joined us and we forged a strong team.

“We come here at Kasumbalesa border every after two weeks to clean. This is because the refuse generation here at the border is high and we can’t wait for traditional monthly cleaning exercise. Our aim is to keep Chililabombwe clean and green as directed by President Edgar Lungu,” she said.

The mayor thanked all those that got involved in the cleaning exercise.
