Chililabombwe Municipal Council (CMC) has seized expired drinks worth K73, 000 from Zambia Oriental Investment Ltd and David K Flom Glop Wholesale in Kasumbalesa.

This was after a team of Health Inspectors from the Council carried out an inspection on the compliance of traders in relation to the Food and Drugs Act Cap 303 and the Public Health Act Cap 295.

CMC Public Relations Manager Chilufya Chungu said the seized drinks include 636 cases of Kumbucho, 430 cases of U-fresh, 96 damaged cans of Kung-Fu and 24 spoilt packets of Milkit.

Ms Chungu has urged the general public to be cautious and take time to read and understand the information provided on the labels of various products before making a purchase.

She said Council further wishes to warn all traders who are in the habit of selling expired goods to desist from such trade practices as they risk being prosecuted.

The expired goods have since been destroyed.
