Chililabombwe Council restocks Library

By IREEN MULENGA
Chililabombwe Municipal Council has re-stocked its public library with more than 150 books as a way of keeping the library well updated and encourages members of the public to embrace a reading culture.

Assistant Public Relations Manager Evelyn Mulenga said that the books purchased range from various categories such as entrepreneurship, agriculture, cookery books, novels and children’s educational books.

“The Council through the Department of Housing and Social Services recognizes that reading not only expands ones knowledge but also plays a crucial role in attaining social, cultural and economic development,” she said.

Ms Mulenga said that the department has continued to encourage residents to access the public facility.

She said the Council has observed an increase in the number of people intending to access the library as schools and universities remain closed due to Covid-19.

Ms Mulenga said that the library cannot accommodate everyone at the same time because health guidelines have to be adhered to.

The council is therefore considering to have timed sessions for library users so as to carter for the increased demand.
