CHILILABOBWE PAINTED RED

United Party for National Development (UPND) has scooped the seats for Parliamentary, Mayoral and 22 Local Government seats in Chiliabombwe.

UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema led in Chilililabombwe District with 25076 votes while Patriotic Front’s Edgar Lungu scooped 14664.

For parliamentary Paul Kabuswe had 22112 votes against PF Richard Musukwa who had 10433 votes.

Others are Lucky Sichone who has scooped the Mayoral seat with 20992 votes against PF’s Trudy Simakando who had 10401vote out of 33858 total vote cast and 665 where rejected ballots

And 22 out of 24 wards have been taken by UPND Councillors except for two and will be declared tomorrow by the District Returning Officer.

Chililabobwe Returning Officer Michael Katebe declared Paul Kabuswe as the dully elected Member of Parliament at exactly 21:34 hours.

And Jovas Ngoma the District Electro Officer and the returning Officer for Mayor elect declared Lucky Sichone as the winner at exactly 21:40.

Mr Ngoma said the counting took longer because of a large turnout of voters and recounting of ballot papers at some polling centers.

He said the delay in the announcement of results was also due to a small hiccup in the totalling of the results they was a small gap.

About five polling centers were not entered during totalling the issue which was quickly resolved.

“Iam happy that all the stakeholders where around during the announcement of the results hence you have witnessed what has transpired and we have resolved the issues using the Electro Act particularly section 73 sub section two(b).

Mr Ngoma declared the elections to have been peaceful in the district.

And the dully elected MP Mr Kabuswe said that he will ensure to work with the people and bring development.

He said the people have seen much suffering in the district and that it was time to start working and not time to rest but time to deliver to the people.

And Mr Sichone said that it time to hit the ground working as the message for the people was to deliver campaign promises on time.

UPND supporters gathered at the civic center as early as 06:00 to awaiting the announcement of the results while chanting forward.
