Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Royd Chakaba has commissioned Chikumanino bus station in Kasama district on behalf of government.
Mr Chakaba said commissioning of the station shows the commitment that government attaches to improving infrastructure in the transport sector.
Mr Chakaba said that the station will enhance efficiency in the delivery of people, goods and services to Kasama and other parts of the country.
“The station will also act as a transit point between Kasama and other towns will be a key component of the country’s economy as it promotes the growth of various sectors, I am confident that the opening of the new bus station will positively contribute to the growth of the district,” he said.
Mr Chakaba said this in a speech read on his behalf by Acting Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Grace Sinkolongo during the commissioning of the station in Kasama.
And Kasama Town Clerk Zakeyo Mbao said the facility will enable transporters to work in a decent and clean environment.
