Chief Luchembe of the Bemba people in Kanchibiya District has died.
Bemba Royal Establishment Spokesperson James Mulenga has announced the death to ZANIS in Kasama.
Mr Mulenga said Chief Luchembe died in the early hours of today in Lusaka after he succumbed to COVID-19.
He said burial arrangements will be announced at a later stage.
Mr Mulenga said the Bemba Royal Establishment is deeply saddened by the demise of the traditional leader.
Mr Mulenga has since urged members of the public to strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
