The Bemba Royal Establishment in Muchinga Province has installed both Chief Chikwanda of Mpika and Chief Luchembe of Kanchibiya District respectively.
The installation of the two new traditional leaders comes after the death of the two Chiefs from both Chiefdoms two months ago.
The Bemba Royal Establishment spokesperson, James Mulenga told ZANIS in an interview in Mpika that the newly installed chiefs are Peter Mwila Chandwe of Chikwanda Chiefdom and Stephen Bwembya Ng’andu of Luchembe.
He has called on residents in both chiefdoms to respect and take care of the newly appointed chiefs.
Mr Mulenga also appealed to the newly installed chiefs to work well with the people so that they continue developing the chiefdoms.
And Chief Chikwanda has appealed to parents in his chiefdom to desist from marrying off young girls.
The traditional leader said that there can never be development if guardians have a habit of marrying off young children.
He further said that he will work with the Government of the day so that development can be brought to the Chiefdom.
Meanwhile, Chief Luchembe of Kanchibiya District has also pledged to work with the Government of the day under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
The traditional leader has also issued a strong warning against early child marriages saying the vice will not be tolerated in his chiefdom.
Two months ago, the two chiefdoms lost their chiefs to Covid-19.
Chief Chikwanda of the Bemba speaking people died on June 21, 2021 after succumbing to Covid-19 while Chief Luchembe died on June 15, 2021.
