Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) is attending this year’s DRC Mining Week, Expo, and Conference from June 14–16, 2023, in Lubumbashi, under the theme ‘Recognising DRC’s Mining’s Triumphs and Victories’.
“As a key stakeholder and one of the largest power traders in the Southern African region, CEC is looking to cement its presence in the DRC, having entered the market in 2011, and seek further growth opportunities” said CEC Managing Director, Mr. Owen Silavwe.
“Our participation in the DRC mining week is intended to affirm our position as an energy partner to the mining industry and to expand our market portfolio by seeking energy-related business prospects as the country is a key market for our development plan,” Mr. Silavwe added.
“We will participate on a panel discussion addressing how energy sector growth can be enhanced through acquired private investments and are particularly keen on addressing green energy investment given the role that the mining sector in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will play in the global energy transition,” Mr. Silavwe further commented.
Aside CEC’s focus on positioning its power transmission services, at the mining week, the utility firm is also a platinum sponsor of the event.
Commenting on CECs support to the DRC Mining Week, Event Director, Mr Samukelo Madlabane had this to say: “We are thrilled about our partnership with CEC as a platinum partner, we value the contribution they have made to DRC Mining Week, and we look forward to a successful three day gathering at the Pullman Hotel. Access to energy is critical in mining and it is for this reason that CEC’s participation at the event is critical.”
In addition to the projected attendance of over 100 speakers and over 5900 local and international mining experts, the conference is expected to draw over 950 mining, industrial, and conference attendees.
