By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has commended the Zambia Army for upholding the peace the country has continued to enjoy.
Mr Matambo said the army is held in high esteem because they conduct their duties diligently.
Speaking when Zambia Army Commander Liutenant General Dennis Alibuzwi paid a courtesy call at his office on Thursday, Matambo praised the army for the support it has continued to show the new dawn administration since assumed power.
“Whenever we see you in uniform, we feel secure. We put your team in high esteem and we are pleased with the support you have been giving the President since he was sworn in office,” he said.
He said the Zambia Army should be commended for maintaining peace and order during the previous elections.
And Gen Alibuzwi said he is in the province to review the trainings of the Zambia Army cadets so as to determine how battle ready they are to be released in various units to undertake various responsibilities.
“We are in the province for a simple reason, our cadets are about to graduate in February or March, depending on the President’s program. They commenced last year in March and they have been in training for almost one year and they have been taught the military strategies,” he said.
