Catholic Bishops urges political parties to maintain peace

By MAIMBO MWEEMBA

The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) President Ignatius Chama urged political parties to embrace peace.

Archbishop Chama said there is need for all political parties to denounce political violence because there is only one Zambia.

” Zambia can only remain peaceful if there is political will by the political party leaders,” he said.

Archbishop Chama, who is also Archbishop of Kasama, said in his mass at the National day of Prayers for Peaceful Elections that there is need for peaceful, fair and creditable elections.

Meanwhile, speaking virtually, United Nations Resident Coordinator Coumba Mar Gadio reminded Zambians on the need to preserve peace that the country has enjoyed since independence.
