Catholic Bishops appoints new Secretary General

The Catholic Bishops of Zambia have appointed Rev Fr Francis Mukosa of Ndola Diocese as the new Secretary General of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB).

Acting Secretary General Fr Cornelius Chibamba said the appointment of Fr Mukosa came in after the demise of Fr Kennedy Seketa who replaced Fr Cleophas Lungu whose term of contract ended in June 2021.

He said that Fr Mukosa is currently Director of Social Programmes and projects, Associate Juridical Vicar, Member and overseer of the Diocesan Education Commission and Acting Vicar General for the Catholic Diocese of Ndola.

In the memorandum signed by ZCCB Acting Secretary General Fr Cornelius  Chibamba, ZCCB President, Most Rev  Ignatius Chama, has since conveyed his hearty congratulations to the newly appointed ZCCB Secretary General and wished him God’s continued blessings as well as success in the management of the Catholic Secretariat and matters of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

“Fr Mukosa’s appointment is effective on August 17, 2021, however, he is expected to report for work on the 1st of September 2021,” he said.

Ordained priest on 13th May 1999, in the Archdiocese of Douala, Cameroon, by Cardinal Christian Tumi, Fr  Mukosa served as a priest in the Archdiocese of Douala, Cameroon from 1999 to 2010.

He came back to Zambia in 2010 and he has since served as a Parish Priest as well as Director of Social Programmes in the Diocese of Ndola to date.

Fr Mukosa has a license in Canon Law (Church Law).
