Caristo Chitamfya Jr dies in road accident

Caristol Chitamfya Jr, a Radio Disc Jockey (DJ) popularly known as Caristol Clear 24, has died in a road accident this morning around 05:00 hours when the car he was driving hit another vehicle from behind.

Assistant Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi has told The Independent Observer that Mr Chitamfya died after miscalculating clearance distance thereby hitting a truck from behind.

Mr Chilabi said Mr Chitamfya of Plot 706 of Lusaka’s Chalala Township was driving Mercedes Benz Registration number BAC 8166 which hit into Hino light Truck.

He said the accident happened along Great East Road near Handyman’s Paradise.

“He hit into a Hino Truck registration number AJD 1064 driven by William Gwatilinga 37, a resident of Kanyama Compound in Lusaka from behind and died on the spot.

“Mr Chitamfya is alleged to have misjudged clearance distance and hit into the light truck from behind. He died on the spot. Both vehicles were moving in the same direction- east to west. The body of Mr Chitamfya is in the Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital awaiting post mortem,” he said.

Mr Chitamfya Jr was a son to Zambia’s media personality Caristo Chitamfya who is Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager at Zambia Railways Limited.
