The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a breach of security standards and pitch invasion during the September 10, 2024, Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Zambia’s Chipolopolo and Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga revealed that CAF has imposed a fine of $20,000 on Zambia, with $10,000 suspended provided there are no similar incidents within the next 12 months.
Kamanga emphasized the importance of fan behavior, warning that repeated offenses could lead to harsher penalties, including being banned from hosting home matches. “We appeal to fans to behave better in 2025 and make the stadium safer for families to attend matches,” he urged.

The fine must be paid within 60 days of notification, and FAZ is working to ensure that fans understand the severity of the situation and the need for improved conduct during matches.
