Bus, Taxi Association applaud Govt

By Staff Writer
The Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia has applaud the bold actions taken by Government, through the Minister of Local Government, the Zambia Police and the Lusaka City Council to restore sanity, law and order in the operations and management of bus stations in Lusaka.

National Association Spokesperson Amis Daudi said the association has been complaining about the presence of undesirable elements in the bus stations that have been interfering with the operations of buses.

Mr Daudi those elements have been extorting money from both passengers and bus drivers.

He said the efforts and actions taken to remove all undesirable elements, thugs and hooligans from the bus stations is a welcome development that must be loudly commended.

“We would like to call upon the Government and local authorities with the help of Zambia Police to implement these measures in all bus stations across the country where this kind of lawlessness had taken root,” he said.

Mr Daudi said the Association and the travelling public require peace, law and order to guarantee a conducive operating business environment and an unhindered delivery of a transport service to the people.
