BSLT applauds HH for appointing Chama

Born Short Living Tall (BSLT) President Ntalasha Chisha has applauded His President Hakainde Hichilema for appointing Christine Chama as Human Rights Commissioner.

Mr Chisha said the inclusion of women and people living with disabilities in key governance positions is critical in the incorporation of minority groups and building stable democracies.

He said the decision by the President to appoint Ms Chama is fundamental towards fighting discrimination and supporting inclusiveness.

“We are hopeful that the voices of women and people living with disabilities will continue to have a positive influence in the nation and we congratulate Ms Chama for a well-deserved appointment, we have no doubt that she will contribute positively in advancing human rights in the nation, the appointment of Ms Chima is a huge step in encouraging the girl child and women to aspire for greater things,” he said.

Mr Chisha said the appointment of Ms Chama is also testimony that anyone can occupy influential positions in the land.

“This also demonstrates the President’s support to the disability movement. We urge the women and disability movement to rally behind Ms Chama and give her the necessary support that she needs to succeed in her new role,” he said.
