Konkola Copper Mines (KCM)’s Nchanga Smelter operations have reportedly ground to a halt following the disappearance of the application certificate two days ago.
The application certificate is the licence key for software used for running the computerised system of the Smelter.
Initially, there were reports of mixture of water and diesel running in the system, affecting the operations of the Smelter.
Sources claim the software is stored on a flash disk and the disk has been reported missing.
According to insiders, the Liquidator Milingo Lungu had sourced finds to buy feed (concentrate) in order to run the smelter.
At the moment it is difficult to think of buying another software because the smelter has gone on several software upgrade.
