A-Five-year-old boy of Kitwe’s Luangwa area has died after he suddenly felled into a water well about nine metres deep and died at his immediate neighbor’s house.
Brief facts of the matter are that the victim returned from school and found his mother at home around 15:00 hours and was served with lunch.
After some time his mother left home to go and pay a visit to someone who delivered of a baby in neighboring Malembeka Township leaving the child in the guardianship of her sister in law.
Few minutes later, the sister in law heard a knock by her neighbor with sad news that the victim fell into a well.
They rushed to the well and interviewed a seven year old boy he was playing with who stated that they were chasing each other as they played when he accidentally fell inside the well.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the rescue team from Kitwe Fire Brigade was informed by members of the public and rushed to the scene.
“But before they arrived at the scene, members of the public had already managed to retrieve the infant from the well and rushed him to Wusakile Mine Hospital with the view to save life,” he said.
Mr Mweemba said a-follow – up was made at Wusakile Mine Hospital where the child was received in an unconscious state and referred to Kitwe Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead
In another Development a-21-year-old man of Ndola Misundu area attempted to commit suicide by taking some maize chemical.
Brief facts of the matter are that the reporter in this matter Stephen Mubita on February 21, 2023 in the morning talked to his cousin the Victim on how to conduct himself and advised him to have good morals.
However, his cousin got upset and that’s how the reporter left for work also his cousin left for school.
When the reporter returned home he was told by other relatives who were at home that his cousin was saying that he will kill himself, and it was discovered that he had taken some maize chemical known as manco and locked himself in his bedroom.
The matter was reported to police who rushed to the scene and managed to break the door and found the said victim laying on the floor in unconscious condition.
He was picked and rushed to Ndola teaching hospital where he is admitted and receiving treatment, his condition is stable.
