A-5-year-old boy of Ndola has died after he was administered with an illicit locally brewed beer commonly known as Kachasu by his father.
Brief facts are that the mother to the victim left home on March 10, 2023 in the evening to go for a charcoal business far away from home and left the children in the custody of their father.
When she returned home on March 11,2023 early in the morning around 0500hrs, she discovered that the victim was not in good condition and unable to talk.
She inquired from other children who revealed that their father was enjoying a bottle of number one Kachasu around 01:30 hours and that he shared some with the victim who later became unwell.
The child was rushed to the nearby health facility and referred to Arthur Davison children’s hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the matter was reported at Mapalo Police post and the Police made a follow-up to the said abode, but found that the suspect (father) is on the run.
Mr Mweemba said the body of the victim is deposited in the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
