Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu has assured that President Hakainde Hichilema will agree to award Veteran Environmentalist Robert Kunda Chimambo.
Speaking at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka when Environmentalists bade farewell to Mr. Chimambo, Mr. Nzovu said some decisions such as the closure of Mines for violating environmental laws were done because of Mr. Chimambo’s advocacy.
Mr. Nzovu urged Environmentalists to emulate 40 years of strong Advocacy on Environmental issues.
And Zambia Climate Change Network- ZCCN Chairperson Monica Chundama said Mr. Chimambo was instrumental in the creation of ZCCN.
Pan African Climate Justice – PACJA Executive Director Mthika Mwenda, Headquartered in Kenya, said Mr. Chimambo’s strong stance on environmental issues will be missed at continental and global level.
Mr. Chimambo was born on February 1, 1947 and died on January 27, 2024 was put to rest on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.
