The Bank of Zambia has called upon the business community in Chingola to capitalise on the convenience and transformative power of digital financial services.

During an engagement meeting organized by the Chingola Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Bank of Zambia and the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bank of Zambia Representative Abraham Alutuli emphasised the advantages of using digital payment methods, particularly mobile money wallets.

Alutuli highlighted the increased adoption of digital transaction systems in the country, resulting in a surge in mobile wallet transactions. He stressed that the objective is to promote a cash-light society in alignment with government policy and emphasised the central bank’s commitment to eradicating fraud.

He emphasised the advantages of digital financial services, citing their risk-free, convenient, and time-saving nature.

He urged the business community to consider the benefits of this secure and reliable payment method. Alutuli stated, “It is a game changer. You don’t have to wait, as digital transactions are instant and cost-effective, directly transferring funds to mobile wallets or bank accounts.”

Alutuli also underlined that mobile wallet transactions have outperformed other methods in terms of volume, making it essential for the business community to embrace digital platforms for smoother transactions.

And Freddie Musonda, President of the Chingola Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasised the importance of digital transactions, especially as the government unlocks opportunities in mining towns on the Copperbelt.

He expressed gratitude to the Bank of Zambia for educating the local business community about the advantages of digital transactions for enhanced financial management.

The event also featured informative sessions from Mobile Money service providers such as MTN Zambia and Kazang, offering valuable insights to the attending business community
