Bandits snatch K98, 000 cash in Kasama

Bandits have snatched K98, 000 cash from a Toyota Hilux for Trade Kings in Kasama.

Northern Police Chief Richard Mweene told The Independent Observer that the bundits got away with K98, 025.00 cash from parked Hilux for Trade Kings.

Mr Mweene said the Hilux Reg No. ALZ 3825 silver in color which was parked at Indo-Zambia bank along Independence road in Kasama District was unlocked on the driver’s door and they got away K98, 025.00.

“Acting on the report the police made a follow up and found the criminals at Mwiluzi along Mbala-Kasama road where they had parked their car a Honda CRV bearing registration no. ALP 2712 silver gray in color.

“They were changing the font tyre and upon being challenged the criminals ran in different direction in the process one suspect named whose name has been withheld aged 40 was shot at in his left side of the thigh whilst two of his colleagues were apprehended. The suspect who was shot is receiving medical treatment at Kasama General Hospital whilst one suspect is on the run,” she said.

The Police Chief said a sum of K84, 000 was recovered from the suspects and the car which was being used had been impounded and kept as exhibits.

He said the incidence happened around 11:30 hrs yesterday.
