Bandits snatch K218, 000 cash from Mega Eggs cashiers on gunpoint

Three bandits have snatched K218, 612.50 cash from the two cashier of Mega Eggs Quantum Foods of Chingola who were in transit to the bank for deposit.

The bandits later tied both hands and legs of the two cashier and the drivers, sealed off their mouths with seal tape and left them bundled in the Toyota Hiace van.

The three Mega Eggs employees had just moved few metres from their office and between Lake Petroleum Filling Station along Kitwe Rd Chingola, three armed men stopped their car and attacked them.

Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga has confirmed the aggravated robbery to The Independent Observer.

Ms Katanga said the incidence happened around 11:00 hours today April 1, 2019 when two cashiers of Mega Eggs Evelyn Kolala 29, of 798 Mimbula New Extension Kasompe and Ben Chisola 24, of 15 FTJ Chiluba of Soweto plus their driver Kabwe Kasase 32, of 29 Mpepo Street of Mudzabwera all of Chingola were robbed of K218,612=50n, cash.

She said the trio was stopped and robbed near Lake Petroleum Filling Station along Kitwe Rd Chingola.

“The trio were in transit taking the money to FNB Bank Chingola using a company vehicle Toyota Hiace Reg.No. ALM 4829 and all had their hands tied using a cable-tie and also sealed their mouths using a seal tape. They were later dumped inside the Toyota Hiace Mini-Van. Two cell phones were also robbed from them

“The victims sustained general body pains as the attackers sped -off in the same Toyota Corolla whose Reg.No. is unknown and went away with all the K218,612=50n cash and the keys to the Toyota Hiace Van. No recovery of the money has been made. But the Toyota Hiace Van has been recovered. We have instituted investigations and a manhunt has been launched.
