Ban of political campaigns, lack of respect for democracy-UPND

By Staff Writer
United Party for National Development says the ban of all political campaigns is lack of respect for democracy by the Head of State.

UPND Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya said that the party is disturbed by the hypocrisy and a lack of respect for democracy in the indirect threats made to the law enforcement agencies and Ministry of Health officials by ordering a total shutdown of the election environment and ban all political campaigns.

Mr Bwalya said while he was issuing these threats against citizens wishing to exercise their constitutional rights and freedoms, a PF rally had gathered outside Mulungushi International Conference Centre, without any regard for any public health regulations.

He said the party is urging and reminding citizens, that voting for the PF regime will render Zambia a country governed by one man without any regard for the rule of law.

“we urge and remind our law enforcement officers, particularly the police, that they too deserve to work in an environment of law and order and never under the orders or threats of any individual,” he said.
