An infant girl of one year and six months has gone missing and is allegedly stolen by a friend to the infant’s mother.

The incident was reported to Twapia Police Station on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, by the mother, Memory Kabenja, 24, of house number 1161 in Kamanda area, Twapia Compound.

According to the report, the infant, Grace Mulenga, was last seen on February 26, 2025, around 13:00 hours at her grandmother’s residence, house number 1161 in Kamanda area.

The grandmother, Fridah Kabenji Malasa, had been caring for the child while the mother was at work at Masala Market.

The grandmother reported that a friend, Lillian Muya, had visited and asked to take the child to a party at Nosco in Indeni area, promising to return the same day.

However, Muya failed to return with the child, and all attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful.

The family has tried to reach Muya on her mobile phone, but it appears to be out of service.

A visit to her residence revealed that she had left her phone behind, citing a problem with the device.

Further investigations revealed that Muya had not attended the party with the friends she claimed to be with, as they were actually in Lusaka.

The matter has been reported to the police, and a docket has been opened. However, no arrests have been made yet, and the search for the missing infant continues.
