Printing of ballot papers for the August 12 polls is almost complete with 95% of ballots in all election types being printed.
Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Senior Electoral Officer Anna Nkaka said ballot papers for the National Assembly, Mayoral and Council Chairpersons has been completed
“Printing of ballots for Local Government which is the only election type remaining stands 79% printing of Presidential ballot papers and braille jackets for use by visually impaired citizens has been completed and that the printer has started with the pre-packaging process,” she said.
Ms Nkaka disclosed ECZ Commissioner Ali Simwinga said the commission has invited stakeholders to monitor the printing because it wants to uphold principles of legitimacy and transparency at every step of the process.
She said this today, when she briefed stakeholders monitoring the printing process in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Among the stakeholders monitoring the printing process are representatives from political parties, law enforcement agencies and civil society.
