Arthur Wina rural health facility in Nalolo of Western Province has recorded 500 live births in less than ten months, which is an all-time record for the health facility.
Vice President Inonge Wina is delighted that the mortality rate in the area has drastically fallen as a result of the initiative under the Arthur Wina Memorial Foundation.
“This record can be attributed to the availability of a health facility in the area which has resulted in mothers walking shorter or no distance in order to give birth once in labor, before the health facility, most mothers succumbed to illness and even death along the way but that it is not the case now,” she said.
Mrs Wina said President Edgar Lungu’s government has done more for Zambia´s health than any other government in the history of the country.
