Army urged to remain steadfast

The Zambia Army has been urged to remain steadfast in its mandate of preserving national peace and security.

Deputy Army Commander Geoffrey Zyeele said the army must watch against any possible breach of peace in the country.

Major General Zyeele has also urged the army to remain on alert to respond positively to disaster management efforts by government.

He said the army recently successfully moved over 1,000,059 bags of maize countrywide in an exercise to preserve the grain.

Major General Zyeele said this on Friday night during the Zambia Army Annual Ball in Lusaka at the Headquarters’ Mess.

At the same function Zambia Army Headquarters Mess Organizing Committee Chairperson Justin Silwenga said the annual ball is one of the avenues to preserve military tradition and etiquette.
