Army Ladies Association of Zambia (ALAZ) working with Abantu Manufacturing Company has donated 100 sanitary wear and 50 desks to Army-aided Chisengalumbwe Primary School in Lusaka to alleviate the shortage of desks.

Abantu Manufacturing Company working in collaboration with the Army Ladies Association of Zambia (ALAZ) donated one hundred sanitary wear and 50 desks to Army-aided Chisengalumbwe Primary School in Lusaka to alleviate the shortage of desks.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at Chisengalumbwe Primary school yesterday, Abantu Manufacturing Company Director Vincent Akamandisa said his firm recognizes that education is a basic right.

Mr Akamandisa pledged to also help in refurbishing the broken down desks at the Army aided school so as to create a conducive learning environment for learners.

“We it thought it wise to contribute to the education for all policy of the Government by donating desks and sanitary products to some schools,” he said.

And ALAZ patron Stella Alibuzwi said the Association is determined to promoting gender equity, women and children’s rights.

Ms Alibuzwi said that the donation of 50 and 100 sanitary products is the Association’s contribution to enhancement of quality education.

Ms Alibuzwi is optimistic that the donation will motivate the girl child learner to attend lessons as it mitigates the menstrual hygiene management challenges.

And receiving the donation, Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Alibuzwi thanked Abantu Manufacturing Company for partnering with ALAZ to donate desks and sanitary wares to the school.

He urged the members of staff and pupils to take care of the desks donated, and challenged army officers to do the same

And Hope Mulenga, a Grade seven pupil at Chisengalubwe, thanked Abantu Manufacturing Company, ALAZ and the Army Commander for supporting the school.

She said that the pupils will cherish the donations and that they will take good care of them.

In January, Abantu Manufacturing Company donated 40 desks to Luena secondary school in Kaoma District.

This is contained in a statement issued by Zambia Army spokesperson colonel Cynthia Chimpusa.
