Former female boxer Esther Phiri was among mourners that witnessed the burial of her coach Anthony Mwamba at Memorial Park in Lusaka on Sunday.
Mwamba died on Thursday at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital in Lusaka at the age of 61.
Phiri paid her last respects to Mwamba prior to burial.
Mwamba, a retired boxer, was also a coach and director at Exodus Boxing Promotion.
He is famous for grooming Phiri who later became world champion in the bantamweight category.
In his boxing days, Mwamba represented Zambia in the men’s light welterweight event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in South Korea.
He also won a bronze medal in the welterweight division at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.
