A 27-year-old man identified as Bright Mwape of Kamatipa Township in Kitwe has died after soil from an Ant hill trench used to make blocks collapsed on him while digging with two others.
Copperbelt Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said the incident happened July, 12 and was reported to the police by Misheck Sikanyika aged 22 at Mindolo Police station.
“The incident happened when the deceased with the other two friends were digging soil from a trench in the ant hill for making blocks when the soil curved in and buried him dead,” she said.
Ms Zulu said that police rushed to the crime scene and exhumed the body.
“The deceased’s body was later deposited to Kitwe teaching hospital mortuary awaiting burial as no foul play was suspected in the matter,” she said.
