A 32 year old police officer of Solwezi has shot himself dead with an AK47 rifle whilst on duty.
Constable Henry Zulu shot himself today around 05:00 hours at Solwezi Bus Terminus Police Post.
Northwestern Police Commissioner Hudson Namachila has confirmed the incident in Solwezi.
Mr Namachila said Zulu shot himself through the neck and the bullet came out through the forehead damaging the skull and brain.

He said the motive behind the shooting is unknown.
The Commissioner said all the ten rounds of ammunition he withdrew were expanded as the magazine was found empty adding that nine empty cartridges were found at the scene.
Mr Namachila said the body has since been deposited to Solwezi General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial as no foul play is suspected.
This is the Third Incident Ten days, last week another police officer in Namwala shoot himself with an AK47 rife while on duty and in Lusaka a violent police killed himself.
