Amlew K500, 000 ablution block coming

By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa is constructing new ablution block at Amlew Compound in Chabanyma ward.

The over K500, 000 ablution block project will be installed with a borehole, an overheard tank, showers and wall to wall tiles.

The current ablution block is always blocking because it was constructed for a small group of employees of Amlew Construction Company.

After the contractor had finished the project, residents went in to occupy the smaller houses and now the compound is one of the most densely populated in the district.

Speaking with The Independent Observer, Mr Nkhuwa said during campaigns in 2016, he had promised to build a new ablution block to improve sanitation at the area.

He said the money has been mobilized and the project will be executed in record time.

Mr Nkhuwa who is also Energy Minister said his desire is to improve the lives of the people in his constituency.

One of the residents, Elizabeth Mwansa said the current ablution block has no water and as a result it was ever dirty.

And Chibanyama Ward Councillor William Kabuswe said Amlew has 48 houses housing over 1, 000 people.

Mr Kabuswe said sanitation bring decency and dignity to the community and also enhances good health.
