Zambia’s Ambassador to Georgia, Joseph Chilengi has presented his credentials to Georgian President, Giorgio Margvelashvili
Dr Chilengi who was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Ivy Chilengi presented his Letters of Credence to President Margvelashvili at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi.
In his interaction with Dr Chilengi shortly after receiving the credentials, President Margvekashvili assured that Georgia was willing to share with Zambia best practices in e-governance to promote transparency in delivery of public services.
The Georgian Public Service Hall, a state-of-the art one-stop e-governance facility , which provides over 300 public services, won the United Nations Public Service Award for 2012 in the category of “Improving the Delivery of Public Services”
President Margvelashvili also pledged willingness to share experiences in police reforms which Georgia has successively implemented since 2003 to inculcate high levels of integrity and discipline in law enforcement agencies.
He added that Georgia was determined to strengthen trade relations with Zambia and other countries.
And Dr Chilengi who is also Zambia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, told President Margvekashvili that Zambia was implementing the Smart Zambia Project aimed at deploying Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to ensure effective delivery of public services.
He said sharing of best practices with Georgia would be appreciated
Dr Chilengi also urged Georgia to explore ways of collaboration with Zambia in various sectors of the economy for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
He conveyed to President Margvelashvili, warm greetings from President Lungu
Earlier Dr Chilengi paid a courtesy call on Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Khvtisiashvili with a call on the two countries to implement the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Georgian Chambers of Commerce and the Zambia Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI).
He said this would enable the private sectors of the two countries to interact and raise awareness of the trade and investment potential between Zambia and Georgia.
“Georgia has attained great achievements in the tourism sector by attracting more than 7.5 million tourists in 2017, I call upon Georgian tour operators to work with our tour operators in Zambia to enhance promotion of tourism in the two countries,” Dr Chilengi said.
The Zambian Mission in Turkey covers Georgia as a country of extra accreditation. The Mission also covers the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
