All the 38 pupils who sat for Grade Nine Examinations in 2021 at Mumena ‘A’ Secondary School in Kalumbila district have failed to make it to Grade 10.
And Kalumbila District Education Board Secretary Mutinta Mubanga said her office is in receipt of the report and has constituted a team to investigate what could have led to the poor performance of pupils at the school.
Ms Mubanga said the matter is receiving active attention from her office.
Meanwhile United Party for National Development -UPND Mumena ward Chairperson Jameson Kahokola said parents in the area are wondering how all the 38 pupils could fail.
He said after the results were received, parents together with Chief Mumena convened a meeting with the teachers at the school to understand why all the children failed.
Mr Kahokola said some parents suspected that maybe the school has no qualified teachers but management at the school confirmed that all the teaching staff are qualified with degrees except one who has a diploma.
He said even parents who had children who wrote the examination from other schools and were selected at Mumena A’ Secondary School have refused to take their children there fearing that they will fail at Grade 12. (ZANIS)
