African decentralization, opportunity for councils to preset its works-Chingola Mayor

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Chingola Mayor Johnson Kango’mbe says the day of the African decentralization is important because it gives Local Authorities an Opportunity to present its works to the public.

Mr Kango’mbe said it is a mode to present that decentralization process is functional at the council.

Speaking during the launch of Local Government week, Mr Kang’ombe said it is in the hands of all to see that the services the Local Authority is mandated to provide to the community reach the intended people.

The Mayor also said that the community is held accountable not to abuse or misuse the services the council provides.

Mr Kango’mbe said people need to safe guard infrastructure so that money used in the construction is not put to waste.

He said people should also subscribe to garbage collection franchise so that the district does not accumulate waste and inevitably breed diseases.

Mr Kango’mbe said everyone should do their part in fostering the development of the community.

He said this year’s theme for Local Government week ‘The contribution of arts culture and heritage to sustainable development of African territories’ has come at an opportune time when the new dawn Government is increasingly emphasizing the need for youths to venture into innovations and creative arts.

“Aim appealing to everyone to embrace arts culture and the heritage of the district for sustainable development to be achieved,” he said.
