AC Milan set to establish football academy in Zambia

Italian Giants AC Milan is set to establish a football Academy in Zambia which will run under the Worldwide Scholarship program.

The Club through its representatives under the Africa Italia Soccer showcase over the weekend held trials to select players that will go for trials at the Lombardo UNO -AC Milan academy.

And out of the over 50 players that applied 20 have been awarded scholarships to study and play football in Universities from the United States of America while 7 were selected to go for trials in Milan.
And former AC Milan and AS Roma player Amedeo Managone said Zambia is one of the countries were Italian clubs are looking to tap talent.

Managone said Zambia is known for producing great players and that it will be good to instill an Italian system of play in the young generation.

The UEFA Licensed Professional Coach and Chief Scout also urged young players who aspire to play for professional football to remain focused.

And Worldwide Scholarship (WWS) Director Sports Development Leslie Grobler said once the Academy structures are established in the coming years’ , AC Milan will love to work with Clubs in Zambia football.

And WWS Representative in Zambia Felix Chimba said next year’s trials will be open and pegged at a lower fee to allow kids from all walks of life to participate.
