The short film “9.9 Kilometres” showcases the remarkable achievements of China National Building Materials (CNBM) Zambia Industrial Park and its positive impact on the local community. Through heartwarming stories of small acts of kindness, the film highlights the significant changes that these gestures have brought about.
One crucial segment featured in the video is Chifwema Road, which connects CNBM Zambia Industrial Park and the surrounding Chiyeya Village to the capital city of Lusaka. Previously known as a muddy and dusty road, Chifwema Road posed great challenges to the local residents, hindering their daily lives and economic development. Taking up the responsibility, CNBM Zambia Industrial Park undertook the task of repairing and expanding this vital road section, spanning a total length of 9.9 kilometers. This effort aimed to foster the mutual development of the company and the local community.
On July 3, 2018, after the road’s completion, Chifwema Road transformed into a straight and spacious route, reducing the travel time to the city center from over an hour to less than half an hour. It transformed into a ‘Journey of Happiness,’ facilitating economic growth, providing convenient access to healthcare, and creating educational opportunities for the surrounding areas. The improved road significantly improved the lives of the local people, bringing hope and serving as a vivid example of CNBM Zambia Industrial Park’s commitment to the community.
With a mission of “Materials Create A Better World”, CNBM Zambia Industrial Park has successfully integrated into the local society and become an international showcase in Africa. The park will continue to establish itself in Zambia, driving the development of the local building materials industry and fulfilling its social responsibilities as a Chinese enterprise. It will further strengthen the bridge of friendship between China and Africa.
