Police in Ndola have lunched a manhunt to find a woman who has damped a one day old baby in a stream at Gomes area in Chipulukusu.
Police picked up the body of the abandoned baby along a steam in Gomes and investigations into the matter are launched with a view to identify the mother and possibly know the reason behind such brutal crime.
Copperbelt Police Acting Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said Goodson Musonda who reported the matter owns a garden at the place called Madimba near Gomes area of Chipulukusu and on July 25, 2022 around 16:00hrs whilst working in his garden noticed a body of a day old baby floating along the stream.
Ms Zulu said Musonda immediately reported the matter to the Police and Police officers visited the crime scene and confirmed the report.
She said the body was retrieved from the stream and it was confirmed to be that of a girl.
