Chingola Municipal Council has given traditional healers a 7-day ultimatum to remove their posters.
Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo says failure to remove the posters the council will move in and remove the posters at a fee.
Speaking when he addressed the Traditional healers at the Council where he told them that he wants to maintain cleanness in the district.
Mr Tembo advised the traditional healers to make use of the local radio stations and papers to advertise their business.
“If anybody doing business hangs out their posters uncontrollably, the town will look dirt. But using the media you will even have a wide coverage because it will reach a lot of readers,” he said.
He said that his office is open for suggestion from all stakeholders in the district to bring on board ideas on how to develop the district hence the meeting.
The traditional healers welcomed the idea of advertising and thanked the Mayor for addressing them.
Dr Peter Mutwale. one of the Healers said the Mayor’s suggestion was welcome and felt respected to be addressed and given a period to organize themselves before removing the posters.
Independent Churches of Zambia Chairperson Ellison Bwalya who was also in attendance said the Council is there to maintain order in the district and everyone should abide by the law.
“Churches should also mind how they put posters and banners, the mind-set of the people should be able to note that dirt is dirt not to start seeing cleanness where there is dirt lets work together to save our communities,” he said.
