Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has called on Mimbula Mineral Resources to respect its employees and partnerships with local suppliers and contractors.
Appreciating the mine’s massive investment in the Chingola community and the nation, Mr Matambo urged Mimbula Minerals to support local businesses, including those suppressed by the previous government.
“We assured our people that our doors remain open for discussions, and they are free to come to us whenever they have issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mimbula Managing Director Theo Silver said the mine remains committed to working with suppliers and contractors, as it has paid over $200 million to local contractors from 2023 to date.
Mr Silver said this commitment underscores the mine’s efforts to foster positive relationships with local stakeholders.
Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe emphasized the need for effective collaboration between the mine’s management and local suppliers to avoid conflicts.

He highlighted the government’s efforts to revitalize the mining sector for the benefit of Zambians and surrounding communities.
Mr Kabuswe also urged suppliers to fulfill their contractual obligations to the mine.
The meeting in Chingola addressed pressing issues, including pollution and payments to suppliers and contractors.
