BUSINESSMAN CRITICALLY INJURED IN LUSAKA ROBBERY

A-Lusaka businessman, Mr. Sydney Mateyo, an Airtel Money dealer, is in critical condition after being shot by armed robbers who stole K950,000 in cash.

The incident occurred near the junction of Lumumba and Malambo roads, where Mr. Mateyo and his worker, Mr. Jackson Nsokolo, were ambushed by the robbers.

Mr. Mateyo was shot in the left armpit and rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), where he remains in critical condition. The bullet is still lodged in his body.

The robbers, who were driving a white, unregistered Toyota Mark X, fled the scene with the stolen cash.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed this in a statement that Police has launched investigations and is working to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen money.

The police urge anyone with information to report to the nearest police station or contact them via hotlines 9010 or 991.
