SECURITY GUARD KILLED IN KITWE ROBBERY

A 63-year-old security guard has been killed during a robbery at AK Transport and General Dealers in the Light Industrial area of Kitwe.

The incident occurred on January 5, 2025, when a group of five unknown criminals gained entry to the garage by cutting through the razor wire and disabling the electric wire fence.

The robbers made off with a bunch of used Annex cables valued at K25,000.

The thieves attacked the security guard, inflicting severe injuries, including a cut on the forehead and a fractured left arm.

He was rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Andrew Kakoma, the director of AK Transport and General Dealers, reported the incident to Kitwe Central Police Station at 05:30 hours on January 5.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed that an investigation has been launched, and dockets of the case have been opened.
