Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe has expressed pride in the district’s achievements and urged residents to work together to maintain unity and peace.
Mr Kango‟mbe said the Council has made notable strides in development, completing various projects and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.
He said the council highlighted its achievements, which include the completion of the Maiteneke Market Shelter and Ablution Facility, as well as the completion of phase 1 of the Chiwempala Market Shelter.The Mayor said the council also commenced the construction of the Fire Station Phase 2 and is nearing completion of the paving of the ZSIC parking lot.
Furthermore, the successful implementation of the Cash-for-Work program has benefited over ,500 residents, providing them with immediate financial relief.
In addition, the district has made progress in addressing the effects of drought, with the government distributing relief food to alleviate the impact. A total of 200 metric tons of maize was delivered to the district, with 30% allocated to elderly and physically challenged individuals.
Three health centers in the district are also benefiting from the installation of high-powered solar systems, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access through sustainable energy solutions.
