KCM Foils Attempt to Supply Adulterated Solvents

By Staff Writer
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has thwarted an attempt by a long-standing supplier to deliver counterfeit solvents valued at USD 64,000. The incident occurred when a tanker containing the solvents was delivered to KCM’s premises by the supplier’s driver, who is currently at large.

Independent testing by a reputable agency revealed that the tanker contained water instead of solvents.

“We take the quality and safety of our raw materials extremely seriously,” said Malcolm Mewett, KCM’s Chief Operating Officer. “We will not tolerate any attempts to compromise our operations or put our employees and assets at risk. We are working closely with the police to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”

KCM has strengthened its control mechanisms to prevent similar incidents in the future. The incident is currently under investigation, and KCM is cooperating fully with the police to ensure justice is served.
