GOVT URGES BUS TAXI OWNERS TO WORK TOGETHER FOR PUBLIC SAFETY

The Government has called on the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ) to collaborate with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics to ensure public safety.

Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali emphasized that working together will help address challenges in the transport sector.

During a press briefing at the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) head office, Mr. Tayali urged bus and taxi drivers not to boycott following the suspension of Juldan Motors Limited, a major operator in the country. Instead, he encouraged meeting with relevant stakeholders to address the matter.

The suspension of Juldan Motors Limited was due to a road traffic accident in Kafue that claimed four lives.

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) conducted an investigation, and evidence led to the suspension of the license.

However, Mr. Tayali assured that the suspension is not permanent and will be lifted once Juldan Motors management fulfills the compliance list.

A representative from Juldan Motors, George Matanga, confirmed that the families of the deceased have been compensated, and passengers affected by the accident will be taken care of by the insurance company.
