GOVERNMENT RESPONDS TO CATHOLIC LETTER

Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has cautioned government officials and the United Party for National Development (UPND) members to avoid commenting on the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) pastoral letter.

Mr Mweetwa who is also Information and Media Minister said government has taken note of the pastoral letter which was issued on November 15th,2024 where many concerns and allegations have been raised.

He said this during a press briefing in Kalumbila District where he disclosed that the church is a partner to government and that further consultations will be made.

“Government has noted the content of the pastoral letter dated 15th November 2024, and is paying attention to the gravity of the matters raised and we wish to dedicate some time and it is inevitably incumbent that the government studies that letter in details before giving a full measured response to the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops,”he said.

“We have noted the pastoral letter where many concerns and allegations have been raised and therefore we wish to dedicate some time to respond because it is prudent for good governance to be exerted,” he stressed
