Two Illegal Miners Dead, One Survives in Luanshya

Two illegal miners died, and one survived after a rock fall at Luanshya Dam Pit, China Luanshya, on September 16, 2024, around 18:30 hours. Kebby Chimbishi (30-35) and Ashel Kamposa (24), from Ngabwe area, lost their lives.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba reported that the two miners were buried alive after the earth collapsed. Fellow miners retrieved the bodies and handed them over to the police.

Baston Mukanga, 24, a small-scale miner and relative of the deceased, survived with injuries. He identified the bodies and stated they entered the pit around 14:00.

The police found Kebby Chimbishi with multiple facial cuts and fractured legs, and Ashel Kamposa with multiple facial cuts. The bodies are at Thompson District Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
