A-13-year-old girl was found dead in a hanging position outside her family’s home in Misaka, Baluba, Luanshya, on August 19, 2024. The incident has raised suspicions of foul play.
According to the victim’s father, Leonard Kazhingu, his daughter had gone out to buy snacks with her niece on August 18, 2024, but failed to return home. The family searched for her until midnight but couldn’t find her.
The next morning, around 5:00 a.m., the victim’s elder sister, Anna Fwalanga, discovered her body hanging from a tree outside their house. Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed that Kazhingu removed the body from the tree, thinking she might still be alive, but unfortunately, she had already passed away.
Upon inspecting the body, police observed scratches around the neck and a thick discharge on her private parts, suggesting potential foul play.
“The police were immediately informed, and the body has been taken to Thompson Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination,” Mr. Mweemba said.
He added that no arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing.
