A disturbing video circulating on social media has prompted the Zambia Police Service to launch an investigation. The video shows an assault on Ms. Kavui Mwanaute, 21, by Ms. Annie Phiri in Kalumbila District on August 2, 2024.
According to reports, Ms. Phiri suspected her husband of having an affair with Ms. Mwanaute and confronted her at a local market. The altercation resulted in Ms. Mwanaute sustaining bruises and body pains.
Ms. Phiri was arrested and charged with assault on August 6, 2024. The police are now working to determine who shared the video online and are urging the public not to share it further to avoid causing additional harm to the victim.
The Zambia Police Service has assured the public that they are taking this matter seriously and will ensure justice is served. Anyone found sharing the video illegally will face legal consequences.
