Kalumbila Council to rehabilitate 4KM Jiundu road

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Kalumbila Town Council has embarked on the rehabilitation of the four-kilometer Jiundu road in Mwembezhi ward, Solwezi West Constituency.

Kalumbila Town Council Chairperson Shadrick Munjunga said the road, which has been in a deplorable state, is being rehabilitated using locally generated funds from the council.

Mr. Munjunga noted that the road’s poor condition has made it challenging for students and teachers to access the school, especially during the rainy season.

“The community has been complaining about the road network, and we have heard their concerns. We are working to address this issue,” Mr. Munjunga said.

The council is utilizing resources generated from local companies and marketeers to fund the project. In addition to Jiundu road, the council plans to grade other roads in the area, including Manyama, Kambazhi, Kamiba, Mangala, and Kalengele.

Mr. Munjunga appealed to the community to be patient, assuring them that the council is committed to addressing the infrastructure challenges in the area.

Jiundu Boarding Secondary School Headteacher John Dailofa expressed gratitude to the government for the ongoing works, particularly the upgrading of the road leading to the school.

Mr. Dailofa noted that the improved road infrastructure will benefit not only the school but also the entire community, highlighting the positive impact on local residents.
